Hatston Innovation Park

The innovation centre at Warness Park is home to many of Orkney’s cutting-edge renewable energy companies. Tidal developers Orbital Marine and Magallanes Renovables have deployed their devices to test berths run by the European Marine Energy Centre, an Innovation Centre neighbour. Nearby, Orcades Marine consults on wave and tidal technology projects.

Behind the office buildings, is the the Hatston 900kw wind turbine, installed in 2011. It stands at 67m tall, from ground to blade tips, and with a rotor diameter of 44m it captures around 3,500 MWh of energy each year, bringing power to homes across Orkney and serving as an innovation park landmark.
